Add a Question to an Assessment

Important Notes

If an assessment is being used on a published requisition, changes to the assessment will not affect the requisition. In order for the changes to take effect, you must republish the requisition.

Instructions

  1. Select Assessments on the left-hand side of the screen

  5. Question Type options
    • TextBox: Single line text field; this is for short open-ended answers

      • Question Text: A question that will display for the user to answer
      • Instructions: Instructions provided to the user via the i icon (tool tip) next to the question
      • Required: Make the question required to force the candidate to answer the question before they are allowed to submit their job application
      • Basic Minimum Qualification?: Select if this is a basic minimum qualification for the position
    • TextBox Multiline: Multiple line text field; appropriate for longer open-ended answers; recommended in most cases as the box will expand to accommodate the text

    • Dropdown List: Multiple options displayed in a drop-down; can only have one answer

      • Question Text: A question that will display for the user to answer

      • Required: Make the question required to force the candidate to answer the question before they are allowed to submit their job application
      • Basic Minimum Qualification?: Select if this is a basic minimum qualification for the position
        • Note: If a candidate selects an answer that is marked BMQ, the candidate will receive a 1 out of 1; you can check more than one answer as BMQ
      • Add Answer: These will be the answers that the applicant will choose from

        • The first blank field is the name of the option
        • The drop-down identifies if there is a value associated with the answer from 0-5, with 1 being the least important and 5 being the most important, this assists with rating how well-suited the employee is for the job
        • When scoring, the highest answer will be the total points awarded for the question, similar to a test
          • For example, if a candidate selects an answer worth 3 points, but the best answer is worth 5 points, the candidate will receive 3 out of 5
        • Select Done to finish adding the option, repeat the steps above until all options you desire are displayed on the screen
        • Note: You are able to modify options by selecting the name

      • Checkbox List: Multiple options displayed in a checkbox list; can have more than one answer

        • Required: Make the question required to force the candidate to answer the question before they are allowed to submit their job application
        • Basic Minimum Qualification?: Select if this is a basic minimum qualification for the position
          • Note: If a candidate selects an answer that is marked BMQ, the candidate will receive a 1 out of 1; you can check more than one answer as BMQ
        • Add Answer: These will be the answers that the applicant will choose from

          • The drop-down identifies if there is a value associated with the answer from 0-5, with 1 being the least important and 5 being the most important, this assists with rating how well-suited the employee is for the job
          • When scoring, all the answers will be added together
          • For example, if you have 3 answers worth 1, 2, and 3 points respectively, the total points that would be awarded for this question is 6. A candidate will only receive all 6 points if they check all the boxes.
          • Select Done to finish adding the option, repeat the steps above until all options you desire are displayed on the screen
          • Note: You are able to modify options by selecting the name

      • Radio Button List: Multiple options displayed in a radio button list; can only have one answer

        • Yes No: Allow the user to select a Yes/No answer type

          • Note: You are required to input answers for Yes and No. You can put more than two answers. This question type acts just like a radio button list.
            • For example, you may want to use “I agree” and “I do not agree” or “Yes” “No” “Not Applicable”

            • Note: If a candidate selects an answer that is marked BMQ, the candidate will receive a 1 out of 1; you can check more than one answer as BMQ
