Create a New Assessment

Overview

This article will show you how to create a new Assessment.

Instructions

  1. Select Assessments on the left-hand side of the screen

  2. Select Create New Assessment

  3. Fill out the New Assessment fields:

    • Title: Display name of the assessment
      • Note: It is recommended to use the job title in this field.
    • Description: Description for the assessment
      • Note: This will appear in the instruction area that the candidate sees.
    • Sensitive: Note if this assessment has sensitive information
  4. Select Save Assessment

  5. Select Create New Question

  6. Select your desired question type; follow the prompts to select and complete the information for your desired question type

    • Note: A Preview is available to the right of every option.
    • Text Box: Single line text field; this is for short open-ended answers

      • Question Text: Question that will display for the user to answer
      • Instructions: Instructions you can provide to the user via the i icon (tool tip) next to the question
      • Required: Select this checkbox to force the candidate to answer the question before they submit their job application
    • Text Box Multiline: Multiple line text field, appropriate for longer open-ended answers; recommended in most cases as the box will expand to accommodate the text

      • Question Text: Question that will display for the user to answer
      • Instructions: Instructions that you can provide to the user via the i icon (tool tip) next to the question
      • Required: Select this checkbox to force the candidate to answer the question before they submit their job application
    • Dropdown List: Multiple options display in a drop-down; can only have one answer

      • Question Text: Question that will display for the user to answer
      • Instructions: Instructions you provide to the user via the i icon (tool tip) next to the question
      • Required: Select this checkbox to force the candidate to answer the question before they submit their job application
      • Basic Minimum Qualification: Determines if this question contains a basic minimum qualification
      • Add Answer:

        • Note: The first blank field is the name of the option.
        • Value: Identify if there is a value associated with the answer from 0-5, with 1 being the least important and 5 being the most important
        • Basic Minimum Qualification: Check the box if the question is a required component of the BMQ.
          • Note: You must have the Basic Minimum Qualification under the Required field selected first before being able to see this option.
          • If a candidate selects an answer that is marked BMQ, the candidate will receive a 1 out of 1. You can check more than one answer as BMQ.
        • Done: Select to finish the answer
        • Note: You can click on the name of the option to modify it.

    • Checkbox List: Multiple options display in a checkbox list; can have more than one answer

      • Required: Select this checkbox to force the candidate to answer the question before they submit their job application
      • Basic Minimum Qualification: Determines if this question contains a basic minimum qualification
      • Add Answer: Click to add answer options
    • Radio Button List: Multiple options display in a radio button list; can only have one answer

      • Question Text: Question that will display for the user to answer

      • Required: Select this checkbox to force the candidate to answer the question before they submit their job application
      • Basic Minimum Qualification: Determines if this question contains a basic minimum qualification
      • Add Answer: Click to add answer options
    • Yes No: Allow the user to select a Yes/No answer type

      • Note: You are required to input answers for Yes and No. You can put more than two answers. This question type acts just like a radio button list. For example, you may want to use “I agree” and “I do not agree” or “Yes” “No” “Not Applicable.”
      • Question Text: Question that will display for the user to answer
      • Instructions: Instructions you provide to the user via the i icon (tool tip) next to the question
      • Required: Select this checkbox to force the candidate to answer the question before they submit their job application
      • Basic Minimum Qualification: Determines if this question contains a basic minimum qualification
      • Add Answer: Click to add answer options
  7. Select Save Changes

Best Practices

  • Use the job title as the assessment title
  • Double check that all your dropdown, checkbox, radio, and Yes/No questions have answers
